Admission to the Information Systems (M.Sc.) programme takes place each winter semester.

The admission examination is conducted in two stages. The overall result from stages 1 and 2 determines the allocation of study places.

  • Application form (available below under the yellow button ‘To the application portal!’ – only activated during the application phase)
  • Proof of university entrance qualification (HZB)
    • Proof of first degree (bachelor's/diploma certificate and bachelor's/diploma diploma) If you do not yet have a BA certificate, please send us a transcript of records. Your average grade and credits must be shown in the grade overview!
  • Tabular curriculum vitae
  • Two-page letter of motivation
  • Reference/letter of recommendation from an academic institution or a company
  • Where applicable, relevant subject-specific professional or training content
  • Proof of English language skills corresponding to level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference (Not required for Bachelor's graduates of Pforzheim University)
  • Proof of German language skills, if applicable. (Only for applicants whose native language is not German)
    • For all German-language study programmes in the faculties of Design, Technology, Business and Law, sufficient German language skills must be demonstrated by the following language certificates: Deutsches Sprachdiplom (StageII) the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, DSH Prüfung (DSH 2+3), TestDaF (at least. TDN 4,0), telc C1 University certificate or Goethe Zertifikat C2.

The second stage involves a selection interview to assess the following criteria:

  • Motivation to study (as determined by the interview)
  • Social skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Language skills relevant to the course (as determined by the interview)
  • Technical and methodological skills, analytical thinking

The application and selection process for master's programmes depends on the selected programme.

Please go to the overview of master's programmes and select the desired programme to obtain detailed information about the respective procedure.

The online application function (see below) is activated at the start of the application period:

  • for the winter semester = mid-April
  • for the summer semester = early November

Applications are submitted electronically via our application portal. Please register there first with your personal details in order to receive your login details for the application portal.

During the application process, you will be asked to upload your application documents in PDF format. Please note that you can only continue with your application once the relevant document has been uploaded. We therefore recommend that you only apply once you have all the necessary documents. For the application phase, a complete PDF upload of your documents is sufficient; certified copies are not required. If you are offered admission, you will receive more detailed information in the applicant portal about which documents must be submitted in certified form upon enrolment.
