FAQ

Application, admission and formalities

  1. A completed university degree (bachelor's or diploma) in economics or a comparable field (grade 2.5 or better) is required. If the degree certificate for the first degree is not yet available, it is possible to apply with a current transcript of records. In this case, the average grade must be verified by a certificate from the university.
  2. Very good German language skills (applicants whose native language is not German must present a language certificate corresponding to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This is either DSH 2 or TestDaf level 4).
  3. Very good English language skills corresponding to level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference (proof by means of a language certificate: IELTS, UCLES Cambridge, ICC, BEC, TOEFL, TOEIC, Unicert or KMK certificate).
  4. The selection of applicants for an interview is made according to the criteria of our current admission regulations for master's programmes at Pforzheim University. A digital interview will be arranged with applicants living abroad.

This is generally not a problem as long as there are no outstanding bachelor's degree examinations at the time of admission to the program and the student has been de-registered from the program. The grades can be submitted later, as described in question 1.

'Prospective students can still apply and will be considered if they are expected to complete their bachelor's degree and have no more than 30 ECTS credits remaining.'

For more information you can read the admission regulations § 9 (5)

In principle, lectures are held in both German and English. In the first semester, the ratio of compulsory lectures is 2:1 (English:German). The ratio varies depending on the elective subjects chosen. In the second semester, the ratio is 1:2 (English:German). This information can be found in the current SER MIS .

Yes, although the 30 ECTS credits must be earned as part of a binding study agreement. This agreement is flexible and can be arranged with the program director according to the student's interests. However, this will extend the duration of the program by one additional semester.

The admission examination consists of two stages. The overall result from stage 1 and stage 2 determines whether you are awarded a place on the course. If you meet the requirements of stage 1, we would like to get to know you in a selection interview (in person / online) (stage 2). If this is also successful, you will subsequently receive a certificate of admission.

The application deadline is June 15.

Admissions take place in the MIS system at the start of the winter semester, which is usually in October.

Course content

The MIS has numerous renowned partners from the field with whom projects, case studies, and other formats such as guest lectures take place throughout the semester. Partners include Celonis, BOSCH, Deloitte, SAP, and many more.

After a short period of training, our graduates are able to take on demanding operational tasks independently and develop strategic perspectives in nationally or internationally oriented companies.

To this end, the focus is placed on developing the following skills:

  • Function-related skills
  • Cross-functional skills
  • Practical skills

Students are guided toward independent analytical and conceptual work. The methods used take into account both the acquisition of key qualifications and the professional orientation of the program. This takes place in small groups to enable intensive learning at a high level.

The course content is developed in close consultation with our numerous company representatives. The primary goal has always been to ensure that the course content is as practical as possible. We achieve this standard through the use of lecturers, project work/case studies in cooperation with company representatives, and specially tailored lectures by guest lecturers who are invited from a wide range of industries and companies.

Furthermore, our master's program is characterized by the involvement of international visiting professors from top-ranked universities and a wide range of English-language and internationally oriented courses.
