Further, you have the option to take classes in German.
At the end of your studies, you will speak English at a minimum of C1 level, French or Spanish at a minimum of B2+ level, and German at a minimum of B1 level.

- Furthermore, you will learn about the latest methods, tools and trends in digital management from the perspective of international corporations. Topics covered include the creation of digital business models, a general understanding of data science and its fields of application, various blockchain applications and digital dashboards. There is also the opportunity to learn the first steps in programming AI applications (with Python or KNIME) in electives and to get to know the world of algorithms and data structures.
- Here you can find the detailed study contents of the specialisation.
Course of study
In the Bachelor's degree programmes, the standard period of study is seven semesters. You acquire the title Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Business Administration.
In the fifth semester, you will learn how to apply the taught contents in a company during the internship semester. In the sixth semester, you will complete a compulsory semester abroad at one of our numerous partner universities.
The study programme begins in the winter and summer semesters. The application deadline is July 15 th or January 15th. Participation in the study capability test is not a prerequisite for this degree programme.
Approximately 70% of the lectures are identical in all business administration degree programmes. This applies above all to general business administration, economics, law and quantitative methods. 30% of the programme's time is reserved for lectures on the subject matter of the specialisation; not evenly distributed over the entire study period, but concentrated in the higher semesters.

The International Business degree programme is the right choice if you are interested in international contexts in companies and foreign languages. You will later work in an international environment or abroad and use your analytical skills as well as your foreign language skills. With this profile, you will find potential fields of work in almost all areas with an international connection.
This is what became of our alumni
Graduates of the International Business study programme have excellent career opportunities with companies and organisations of different sizes in different areas. Whether in marketing, sales, finance, human resources, tourism or the event industry - with a degree in International Business, all doors are open to you. Later, many graduates work as global product managers, executives in national subsidiaries of large corporations, junior consultants in large management consultancies, in controlling or as marketing or sales or purchasing managers for specific world regions. A large number of graduates spend longer periods of their professional life abroad, among others in Vienna, Zurich, London, Madrid, Prague, Brussels, Geneva, Paris, Oxford, New York, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Singapore, Beijing and Dubai.
- When preparing for your dream job, a strong practical focus is essential. Experienced professors and competent practitioners from renowned companies hold lectures in order to deepen especially practice-relevant and current topics. In addition, there is professional and linguistic training in English and another foreign language (French or Spanish). English and the second foreign language are weighted similarly. The lecturers are mostly native speakers and all have a great deal of international experience in business, industry and research.
- The practical application of the acquired knowledge takes place through international project work for business, case studies, and study excursions abroad.
- You work and learn in the specialisation in small groups.
- International accreditation by AACSB and EFMD ensures you access to excellent foreign partner universities.
- Optimal preparation for a Master's degree through a Bachelor's degree with 210 credits
"After two semesters abroad in Hong Kong and Paris and an internship in Frankfurt and New York City, I worked as a financial analyst for a multinational company in Paris for a year after my graduation. Thanks to my studies in International Business at Pforzheim University, I will now start a Master's in International Economic Policy in Paris in September at one of the most renowned universities in Europe, Sciences Po (Paris School of International Affairs)."
"International Business" - not only sounds good, but also has a lot to offer:
Studying in two foreign languages makes it possible to remain competitive in the increasingly important international job market. In addition, a compulsory semester abroad allows you to further deepen your business and intercultural skills in another country and another language.
"The International Business degree programme at Pforzheim University is unique in that subjects are taught in English, French or Spanish, depending on the chosen focus. For example, a business plan is created in French to realise a business idea in a francophone country. The acquisition of soft skills is also very important. The sound business education according to the "Pforzheim Model" with compulsory internship and semester abroad is framed by training in communication, teamwork and presentation techniques, as well as foreign-language job application training, intercultural training, and much more. The atmosphere at the university is very informal, and due to the relatively small "classes" within the degree programmes, there is a high and productive exchange with fellow students and professors. The city of Pforzheim and the region invite you to take part in numerous activities after lectures or at the weekend, so that Pforzheim is not only a great place to study but also a great place to live.
Personally, after a semester abroad in Paris and an exciting internship at PUMA in International Key Account Management, I decided to take the double degree offered by Pforzheim University with ESSCA. After the theory semester in the Marketing track at ESSCA Campus Paris, I completed a 6-month internship in Channel Development at Danone Waters in Frankfurt am Main, and then specialised in "Consumer Goods Marketing" in the third Master's semester. In the fourth and last Master's semester, I completed an internship in the sales field service of Danone Waters and wrote my Master's thesis in parallel.
Since October 2016, I have been working as an International Trainee Sales at Dr. August Oetker Nahrungsmittel KG in Bielefeld, and can look back on an extremely valuable study programme at Pforzheim University, both professionally and personally."
"Like many other International Business students, I graduated high school wanting to study something international. Something where I could apply my love for languages and also something related to business and economics. Pforzheim offered me the best combination for what I was looking for: a strong basis in business administration and a later specialization in English and Spanish.
What I did not know at that time is that Pforzheim would open me doors I never even considered possible.
Something unique about the program - and something I really enjoyed - is the proximity of theory and praxis. This offered me the chance to explore many different industries and projects: from working together with the worldwide known company TeamViewer to come up with an adaptation strategy for the Mediterranean countries, to traveling to Spain as a student consultant to develop a market entry strategy for a Spanish company willing to start business in Germany.
These kind of projects allowed me to improve many different skills simultaneously and helped me land different internships in companies such as Daimler, Bosch and Witzenmann.
But also, the possibilities within the career are endless. I was lucky to be able to assist as a working student in the International Business department, as well as at the International Office. Both of them were positions that I did not know about when I started studying, but that gave me valuable insights into the study program and great networking opportunities.
However, the one thing that for me surpasses all of the other benefits from Pforzheim is the freedom that the University gives you to choose your own path, both with a Semester abroad and with specialization / elective classes. At some point along the way I discovered that I had a passion for intercultural and international communication and I decided to make a career out of this new discovered talent.
Now, with a finished Master in International Communication from The Netherlands and a position as Marketing Coordinator UK in Amsterdam, I can look back and assure that Pforzheim was the key to start with this professional journey and that International Business provided me with all the skills I needed to be successful in a working environment. What I saw as just a study program back in 2015, ended up being one of the greatest journeys so far. And for that, I can only say: thank you Pforzelona!"
"I decided to study International Business at Pforzheim University after graduating from high school because I wanted my fascination for other cultures, my enthusiasm for foreign languages and my interest in (business) economic matters to accompany me throughout my subsequent Bachelor's degree.
A key experience came as early as the second semester: in "Regional Studies" we were impressively shown, with the help of metaphorical examples, that cultural conditions of a country also inevitably have an influence on the respective business practices. This course intensified my interest in different cultures and once again strengthened my choice for International Business.
After the two-semester basic studies, IB-relevant specialisation subjects were increasingly on the curriculum: In "Gestion d'entreprise en France et dans les pays francophones", for example, I had the opportunity to realise a business idea in a francophone country. In retrospect, this course challenged me the most. Starting with the creation of a promising marketing plan to the elaboration of a structured financial plan, I now know what it means to try and establish yourself as a start-up.
Through the combination of foreign languages and business, I have already been able to achieve personal success in Sales & Market Management at Daimler AG, among others. Due to my language constellation German-English-French, I was able to complete an extremely varied internship in a multinational German company for its activities in North Africa, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia during my internship semester.
By choosing to spend my semester abroad at UIBE in Beijing, I wanted first and foremost to challenge my interpersonal and intercultural skills, but at the same time to put my knowledge of China and Asia to the test. At the end of the day, I now know that I would like to deal with the incredible growth potential in Asia in my future professional life."
"The practically oriented International Business program at the University of Applied Sciences in Pforzheim enabled me to acquire a broad foundation of knowledge. Especially the close relation to the professors allows the insight into new topics. That's how I came to write my thesis in the field of Artificial Intelligence. With their expertise, inspiration and practical experience, the professors at Pforzheim tremendously support their students."

Study requirements
Admission requirements
According to the regulations for the admission of study places, each higher education institution can determine the criteria according to which the selection procedure for applicants is carried out within a framework specified by the Higher Education Allocation Ordinance.
The admission quotas for hardship cases, foreigners, second degree applicants and applicants whose local ties are in the public interest are uniform for all degree programmes.
In contrast to the other Bachelor programmes at Pforzheim Business School, the BBA/International Business programme has a separate admission procedure. A so-called entrance examination is carried out to determine the subject-specific study ability, in which 100% of the available study places are allocated. This so-called entrance examination has the purpose to check your documents according to a special selection procedure. In this process, previous language skills and experience abroad are taken into account. However, you do not have to come to Pforzheim for the selection interviews.
Decisive for admission are your previous knowledge of English and a second foreign language (French or Spanish) as well as your mathematics skills. The minimum requirements are:
1. Prior knowledge of English (25%)
- at least B2 level (equivalent to about 6 years of English at high school)
- verified through a language certificate (CPE, CAE, BEC, ESOL, TOEFL, TOEIC, Unicert, LLCI), school certificate, transcript of a preparatory course or IHK
- a stay abroad of at least 3 months improves the assessment, provided they do not date back more than 5 years
2. Prior knowledge in French or Spanish (30%)
- at least B1 level (equivalent to about 4 years of French/Spanish at high school)
- verified by a language certificates (Delf, Dalf, TFI, TCF, Elc, language examinations of CCIP, Unicert), school certificate, transcript of a preparatory course or IHK
- a stay abroad of at least 3 months improves the assessment, provided they do not date back more than 5 years
3. Maths grade of the university entrance certificate (45%)
- in the case of certificates from a general higher education (Allgemeine Hochschulreife), the individual grades of the last 4 half-years are taken into account. Otherwise the individual grade shown in the university entrance certificate. If no individual grade is shown in the university entrance certificate, the average grade of the university entrance certificate is taken into account.
- admission only possible up to a grade of 4.0
- good chances with a grade of 2.0 or better
Generally, applicants are considered suitable if they achieve a grade of at least 4.0, weighted according to numbers 1 to 3. However, anyone who does not achieve at least level B2 in English and at least level B1 in French or Spanish will be classified as unsuitable, even if a weighted grade of at least 4.0 would be achieved overall.
Application
The application deadline is January 15th for the summer semester and July 15th for the winter semester. Please note that all deadlines are cut-off deadlines and apply to both EU and non-EU applicants. If the end of a deadline falls on a Sunday, public holiday or Saturday, the deadline ends at the end of that day and is not extended until the end of the next working day. The application portal will be open from mid/end April.
Additional deadline for non-EU applicants:
As a first orientation you may check the list of entry requirements recommended by the state Baden-Wuerttemberg and the German Kultusministerkonferenz KMK for the various countries.
Non-EU applicants need to submit their university entrance qualification documents for examination to the AAA or the Studienkolleg Konstanz and schedule an interview before May 31st for the winter semester and November 30th for the summer semester. The interview will be held before the application deadline of January 15th or July 15th.
Here you can find more information on the application process as well as the admission requirements at Pforzheim University.
You are obliged to truthfully provide the necessary data in accordance with the Hochschulvergabeverordnung (HVVO) and the Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG).
Tuition Fees
Since the winter semester 2017/18, universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg have been charging tuition fees from international students.
