Developing software, understanding systems, implementing solutions

The program teaches solid programming and software development skills as the basis for modern information systems. Students learn to understand algorithms and data structures and to develop practical applications using common programming languages such as Java and Python. Topics such as object-oriented programming, databases, interfaces (APIs), agile development methods, and version control with Git form the basis for the structured implementation of software solutions in a team.

Digital business processes & IT-supported transformation

Analyzing processes, implementing IT, shaping companies

Another focus is on the analysis and design of digital business processes. Students learn to systematically model, analyze, and optimize operational processes using methods such as BPMN, process mining, and project management. The use of modern information systems and ERP solutions (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) is taught in a practical manner and applied in projects. In this way, students develop a holistic understanding of the role of IT in the digital transformation of companies.

International university relations

Pforzheim University has the highest proportion of international students in Germany, has extensive academic relationships with universities and organizations around the world, and cooperates with internationally renowned companies.

Our course content has an international focus right from the start. This internationality is ensured by:

  • the focus of the course content
  • the bilingual teaching concept (German/English)
  • the composition of the student group
  • cooperation with international partner universities

Examples of cooperation with international universities: Joint case study work with student project teams from Chico State University in California and the Canadian University HEC Montreal as part of the English-language course “Business Process Management.”

Project management skills and social skills are taught early on in projects. The project teams consist of students from different countries. This allows students to intensify their language skills and gain early experience in working with people from other cultures.

Of course, our students also have the opportunity to attend a foreign partner university as part of a voluntary semester abroad in combination with a “Learning Agreement.” You can find more information on this on the pages of our International Office.
