THE RELEVANCE OF “DATA” IN THE MODERN WORLD
It is always a pleasure to welcome back MBA alumni to Pforzheim's campus to speak to current MBA students about their individual experiences after graduating from the Hochschule. This time it was Mr. Nabeel Tahir Sheikh, MBA Class 2015, who returned to the Pforzheim campus as a guest speaker. Being an Electrical Engineer, he worked as a Project Manager for 3 years before coming to Germany for his MBA. He decided to stay in Germany after his MBA and continue to work in the IT industry.
Nabeel is a Business Intelligence Specialist at Amazon - the World’s largest electronic commerce and cloud computing company. Starting as a Brand Specialist and later finding his passion in the field of Data Analytics, Nabeel shared his insights on the topic with the students of Pforzheim University. He talked about how data science is used to extract valuable information from the pool of data and how that information is used for making decisions and working on business strategies. Students also got information about the emerging trends in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
Besides his work experience Nabeel also talked about his life as a student at Pforzheim University. “I have received far more of what I ever expected” is how he described the learning and exposure he gained from the Pforzheim MBA Program. He coached students for what methods and decision parameters should be considered to make their CV & cover letters and what strategies should be triggered for applying jobs when the time comes. Importance of Thesis and benefits of effective networking were also emphasised. He even talked in details about what specific skill set is required for moving into the field to Business Analytics or Business Intelligence and resources to acquire it.
After an informative and interactive session the students and Nabeel Sheikh as well as professors and staff from the MBA program gathered for the traditional “Stammtisch” at the “Gartenstüble”, where discussions were continued with some beer and food.
