Learnings outside the Classroom with UN PRME

News

Congratulations to Sourabh Jagtap, one of our MBA students from the batch of 2024, who has successfully completed the UN PRME (United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education) Certification with the DACH region in Europe.
The UN PRME program is a global initiative between the United Nations and management-related higher education institutions, with a focus on equipping future business leaders with the tools to deliver change tomorrow. The program is based on the principles of Purpose, Value, Method, Research, Partnership and Dialogue, with the aim of raising the profile of sustainability in schools around the world. Pforzheim University, being one of the first 100 educational institutions in the world to have joined the UN initiative, is leading the charge in sustainability-oriented education.
The program, consisting of 20 Management students (4 of whom study at Pforzheim University in different study programs) from the Europe DACH region, was a collaborative effort where experts from various fields discussed business challenges. The program participants were given the opportunity to gain further insights into various aspects of sustainability and work in groups to find creative, scalable, and sustainable solutions. Some of the important topics covered in the program included Corporate Social Responsibility, Climate Change and Environment, Poverty, Ethics, Business and Human rights, Sustainable Finance, and Sustainability Mindset.
After the 10-week long program, the participants gained a deep understanding of these alarming topics and were able to gauge the gravity of the situation. As future managers, the learnings from the program would undoubtedly be helpful in making sound and sustainable business decisions. The MBA program at Pforzheim University offers classes in Sustainable Development, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Management, making participation in the PRME program the logical continuation of the curriculum.
In conclusion, the UN PRME program is a powerful tool for creating a more sustainable and responsible future, and Pforzheim University's participation in the program is a testament to its commitment to sustainability-oriented education. We encourage all students to take advantage of such opportunities to learn and grow, and to become ambassadors of change.
