Guest Talk Hach (Danaher Group)

For the first out of four guest talks of this semester, Mr. Jang Fateh Singh, Global Product Manager at HACH, was invited into class. Second semester MBA students took the opportunity to join his presentation and engage in discussion.

Mr. Singh, who originally hails from Chandigarh, India, started off by introducing himself. He is an alumnus of the MBA Pforzheim (2014 batch) and related his MBA knowledge to his daily work life.

HACH, with its over 4,000 employees, is the global leader in the manufacture and commercialization of instruments and reagents for the analysis of drinking water, wastewater and industrial water. Danaher is active in five sectors : Life and Science Diagnostics, Dental, Environmental, Industrial Technologies, Test & Measurement. HACH, a part of the Environmental verical has a range of products and services, not only for water treatment plants, but also for power plants in critical applications where breakdown is not an option. Sophisticated equipment is provided which is fully automated and can also provide remote diagnostics.

Before involving in discussion with MBA students about their queries, he shared insights on the role and responsibilities of a Global Product Manager. The majority of the students will opt for a similar position after acquiring an MBA degree. As a general advice, Mr. Singh said that not only the specific ability to critically analyze a complex business issue and articulate it in a few sentences is important to rise in the ranks of any global organization, but networking and maintaining healthy working relationships with colleagues is also vital.
