Guest professor Luis Chavez-Bedoya from ESAN University, Peru, introduces MBA students to the world of statistics.

Reinforcing the fundamental concepts of statistics, the course by Prof. Dr. Luis Chavez- Bedoya, research professor at Esan University, Peru, has turned out to be an informative and enriching experience for the first semester MBA students at Hochschule Pforzheim. The course delivery has by far achieved its goal of educating the candidates on the use of statistical methods in making sound economic and business decisions. In addition, the course equipped the students to understand the concepts of univariate and bivariate analysis and is set to introduce the basic ideas of hypothesis testing over the coming weeks.
In an era of Big data and advanced analytics, the course utlizes tools such as SPSS for analysis of data sets and delivers quintessential know how to explore data. Further, it equips students to study and interpret raw data while enhancing the critical thinking skills of the candidates. It also provides the students with the pre-requisites for further studies in Business Analytics in the upcoming semesters of the MBA program.
The key elements of the study program is that it provides an overview and an opportunity for further in depth learning of the statistical methods that are highly relevant in business, economics and the social science. Professor Dr. Luis Chavez-Bedoya, has been in the stated capacity at Esan University since 2012 and is an international consultant in operations research and quantitative finance. In addition to several scientific publications in the specific field, he has actively contributed to various study programs including Financial Mathematics and Investment Controlling at Hochschule Pforzheim since 2018.
