OUR MISSION

Business School Pforzheim’s mission statement focuses on our distinct practice-orientation:

Teaching and Learning. We provide a high level of academic education in applied business to prepare our students for successful professional careers in a dynamic, global, digital, and interdisciplinary environment. We enable our students to address the opportunities and challenges posed by economic, social, and ecological developments for the benefit of business and society.

Applied Research. We make intellectual contributions based on research that can be applied to business and society, to classroom instruction and to advance the knowledge base of the faculty’s disciplines.

Cooperation with Practice. We engage with and capitalize on the potential of the many attractive companies in our region and beyond for the benefit of our students, business and society.

 

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Student Focus. We make our first and foremost priority the students of the Business School. 

Expertise and Diversity of Faculty Body. We capitalize on the expertise of our faculty – including both academically and professionally qualified faculty. Due to the size of our school, we are able to build on a broad spectrum of specialist competences and skills represented in our diverse faculty.

Faculty-Student Interaction. We encourage a high degree of faculty-student interaction through individualized consultation and mentoring.

Contemporary Curricula. We provide high-quality, contemporary curricula that cover the diversity of functions and processes in an increasingly digital environment that sustain successful enterprises. 

State-of-the-art Teaching. We base our teaching approach on social interaction and use state-of-the-art didactics and tools.

Critical Thinking. We develop critical-thinking skills by considering business theory and its application, exploring complex problems, creative problem solving, decision-making, personal responsibility, and leadership. This enables our students to acquire lifelong learning skills. 

International Culture. We prepare our students for the challenges of global business through an international culture within the school and by facilitating internationalization on campus and beyond. We encourage teaching and learning in at least one foreign language as well as participation in exchange programs to study and work in other cultural environments.

To continuously improve the national and international attractiveness of the Business School and of our programs and to communicate our distinctiveness to internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the enthusiasm for the school and to further extend our target markets at the national and to the international level. 

Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. To maintain and proactively further enhance our infrastructure for digitalization and to continuously integrate state-of-the-art tools of artificial intelligence as well as other newly emerging technologies into our teaching, learning and research. 

Quality of Education and Services and Campus Attractiveness. To provide our national and international students with innovative education, state-of-the-art teaching, flexible learning opportunities, an attractive study experience on campus and high-quality services so that our students will personally grow and our graduates attain competitive advantage and professional success. 

Internationalization. To further enhance the internationalization of the school and to prepare our students best possible for successful careers in a global business environment. 

Practice-Orientation and Alumni. To maintain and intensify our excellent relationships with the world of practice and with our alumni to our mutual advantage.

Applied Research. To stimulate and support applied research of faculty and academic staff, especially high-quality and high-impact publications, and to intensify integration into international research networks and/or post-graduate opportunities.
