MBA Students Embark on a Knowledge-Packed Excursion to Frankfurt

With the start of the winter semester our third semester MBA students were off to Frankfurt for an excursion that promised to be much more than just sightseeing. This educational journey took them through the doors of some of the world's most prestigious companies, offering an invaluable learning experience, networking opportunities, and the chance to bond with their fellow batchmates.

Atlas Copco: A Glimpse into Industrial Excellence

The excursion commenced at Atlas Copco's office in Bretten, where students were greeted warmly by Ms. Isabelle Penka (Human Resources Business Partner), Mr. Tilo Trumpp (Global Manager, Innovation Center), and Mr. Fabian Steeg (Purchasing Manager). The significance of this visit was immediately apparent as the hosts shared their profound business knowledge. Founded in 1873 and currently celebrating its 150th anniversary, Atlas Copco's dedication to Industrial Assembly Solutions was evident. Students not only learned about the company's rich history but also discovered its unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence. Ms. Penka´s presentation on the company's business and available opportunities for MBA students was insightful, paving the way for future connections and career prospects.

KPMG Deutschland: Where Alumni Bridge the Gap

The students' next destination was KPMG Deutschland, a place of special significance for them. Here, they were welcomed by alumna Ms. Ajita Shringarpure (Assistant Manager) and her colleague, Mr. Julius Bürger (Assistant Manager). The presentation by Ajita and Julius offered valuable insights into value chain transformation consulting. The interactive discussion delved into the fascinating world of AI. Networking provided an opportunity for students to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the field. The connection with Ajita added a personal touch to the visit, underscoring the significance of these relationships.

Clariant: Learning from Industry Experts

At Clariant, the MBA students had the privilege of being hosted by distinguished leaders in the company: Mr. Kolja Hosch (Head of HR EMEA, Managing Director Germany, Global HRBP, Absorbents and Additives), Mr. Martin P. J. John (Global Vice President, Additives for Coatings and Adhesives), and Mr. Jochen Ahrens (Global Vice president, E-mobility and Electronics). These industry experts shared invaluable insights into Clariant's business operations and culture. They presented a stimulating business case, fostering intellectual growth and engagement. This hands-on case experience, combined with networking opportunities, was not only informative but also an incredible learning experience for the students

PwC Deutschland: A Special Connection with Alumni

The visit to PwC Deutschland was not just about business but also about the connections and shared history. Mr. Thomas Heck (Partner, Head of the China Business Group in Germany, Chairman European China Business Group), an alumnus of Pforzheim University, shared his journey from the university to PwC, offering an inspiring career trajectory. The discussion was not limited to business trends; it delved into e-mobility and its current dynamics. The interactive conversation between Thomas Heck and the students was an exciting insight into a successful career. Mr. Jan Pasemann and Ms. Yexin Xi shared a presentation on Global Footprint Transformation and International Growth Practices (IGP), further enriching the students' understanding of the global business landscape.

Alumni Get-Together: Reconnecting with the Past

In the evening, the MBA office hosted an alumni get-together, a heartwarming experience. Former MBA students who now live and work Frankfurt and its surroundings reconnected with professors and current students. Sharing anecdotes, drinks, food, and conversations, it was a unique opportunity for all to connect and reminisce. The informal yet profound discussions strengthened the sense of community among past and present students and at the same time were a greatnetworking opportunity.

Deutsche Bank: Understanding Banking Strategies

At Deutsche Bank, Mr. Holger Fischer (Global Head of Brand Strategy) provided a deep insight into the bank's operations, strategies, and customer experience improvements. Strategies like the Paradigm change and customer experience enhancement program were discussed. The engaging Q&A session was a valuable opportunity for students to delve into the intricacies of banking, leaving them inspired and well-informed about the banking industry's evolution.

EY: Gaining Insights into Consulting and Career Growth

The excursion culminated at EY's Frankfurt office, where students were warmly received by Mr. Rupert Rivera, MBA alumnus, (Senior Technology Consultant), and Ms. Magdalena Chrustek, MBA and MA (Senior Consultant in People Advisory Services). They provided a comprehensive overview of EY, initiating a dynamic and interactive discussion that covered various facets of consulting, career development, and industry trends. Sharing their personal experiences and career growth stories added a personal touch to the session, making it more relatable for the students. The employment opportunities at EY and the Q&A session that followed left the students well-equipped with insights and answers to their career-related queries.

 

Overall, the MBA students' excursion to Frankfurt was a thrilling journey. It provided them with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the corporate world, learn from industry leaders, and expand their networks. The hosts' generosity in sharing their knowledge and experiences was greatly appreciated by the students. This excursion not only expanded their horizons but also left them inspired and motivated to pursue successful careers in the world of business.
