3. Non-EU Applicants

If you have a non-EU university entrance qualification, you need to complete two additional steps first

Application Deadlines

The application deadline for the winter semester (starting end of September or early October) is 15 July for EU applicants. For international non-EU applicants this deadline is 31 May. If the deadline falls on a weekend or public holiday, it is extended to the next working day. The application portal opens in mid-April.

 

Important for Non-EU Applicants

Applicants with a non-EU university entrance qualification must submit their documents for recognition to the International Programs Office or the Studienkolleg Konstanz by 31 May.

 

Admissions Process

Since the winter semester 2017/18, universities in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg charge additional tuition fees for students who are non-EU nationals. This classification is based exclusively on passport nationality, not on the country in which a previous degree was obtained.

Application Timeline and Process

The application portal for the winter semester is open from 1 May to 15 July. This applies to all applicants wishing to start their studies in late September or early October.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Step 1: Register on Hochschulstart

  • Start your application by registering at www.hochschulstart.de.
  • Hochschulstart is the central platform for coordinating university admissions in Germany through the Dialogorientiertes Serviceverfahren (DoSV).
  • After registration, you will receive your applicant ID (BID) and applicant authentication number (BAN), which are required for the next step.

Step 2: Apply via Pforzheim University’s Portal

  • After registering on Hochschulstart, go to the Pforzheim University application portal and log in using your BID and BAN.
  • Here, you can submit your complete application, upload all required documents, and select the study programme(s) you wish to apply for.

Important Tips for Managing Your Application

  • Track your status: Regularly check both Hochschulstart.de and the Pforzheim University portal for updates.
  • Submit early: Make sure to upload all required documents well before the 15 July deadline.
  • Prioritise your programmes: If applying to multiple universities or programmes, prioritise your choices on Hochschulstart.de.
  • Selection and admission: Admission offers are made based on your rankings and submitted documentation. Notifications will be sent via Hochschulstart.
