Last week our MBA group spent some time with 2015 grad Dongxiao Yang, Manager Organizational Development and Strategy at MHP. Dongxiao took students for a deep dive into what to expect as an MBA grad going into consulting. She discussed her career path which included completing an internship with Bosch and taking a full time position with them after graduation in their innovation management department. Then she discussed how she ended up at MHP as a management consultant. Dongxiao’s diverse path provided meaningful insight to our students who are in the midst of deciding on thesis and career paths.
Dongxiao placed a strong emphasis on relating to our current students, as she recalled what she would have liked to know during her studies. From internship to job choice, she explained in detail the benefits and drawbacks of working for a large company and then dove into the pros and cons of working for a smaller company. Dongxiao shared with us what it was like to join the program and German workforce as a student from China and explained the tradeoffs one may consider when deciding where to work after the MBA. Students found this information to be very helpful as it gave them more to consider in their respective career pursuits.
As a consultant with MHP since 2018, Dongxiao had plenty to share with students in the consulting realm. Students were able to look into everyday life as a consultant including topics such as project diversity, project demand changes from client to client, and what it is like to be constantly exposed to different areas of business. She then spent some time giving insight into life at MHP including company structure, project portfolios, and global reach. We enjoyed great back and forth interaction with our guest as students found particular interest in her recent projects dealing on the client company’s transition to E-mobility.
Thank you Dongxiao from all of us here at MBA Pforzheim, we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your career experience with us!
