Master Digital Business Management (M. Sc.)

Application

Applications must be submitted by 15 June each year.

For more information about your scores, you will need to apply to the programme first (application starts 1 May, deadline 15 June). The link to our application portal is below. You must have a university degree in business administration or economics (or equivalent) with a total of at least 180 ECTS credits with a grade of "good" or better.

Formal requirements for admission

To be admitted to the Master Digital Business Management, you need a proof of:

  • a university degree in business administration or economics (or equivalent) awarded with the grade "good" or better;
  • generally consisting of at least 180 ECTS credits *;
  • 10 ECTS in Quantitative Methods (including 5 ECTS in Statistics - see StatUpgrade if you miss these 5 ECTS);
  • 5 ECTS in Business Information Systems;
  • 30 ECTS in Business Administration and/or Economics.
  • English B2 (according to the European Framework of Reference)

Target Audience

The programme is designed for students who want to work in a digital business environment and are interested in actively shaping business processes, services and professional life. Graduates of this programme are most often found in these professional roles:

  • Digital Transformation Consultant: Drive businesses forward by designing digital processes and services, leveraging skills in digital management, IT, data analytics, and project management.
  • Data Scientist/Data Analyst: Extract insights from data using expertise in data science, artificial intelligence, and analytics with R and Python.
  • Project Manager (IT/Digital): Lead projects implementing digital solutions, managing platforms, and driving change with agile methodologies.
  • Business Intelligence Analyst: Analyze data to identify trends, inform strategies, and develop digital business models.
  • Digital Product Manager: Oversee digital product development and innovation, collaborating across teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Supply Chain Analyst/Manager: Optimize supply chain operations using data analytics and simulation techniques.
  • Customer Experience Specialist: Design strategies to enhance digital customer experiences based on data insights.
  • Research Analyst: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support decision-making processes.
  • Technology Strategist: Develop and implement technology strategies aligned with business goals.
  • International Business Consultant: Support businesses in expanding globally, leveraging intercultural management skills.

Selection Procedure

How the selection procedure works

The university's own aptitude test consists of a two-stage selection procedure:

As part of a pre-selection process, the written application documents are assessed on the basis of four criteria:

  • Grade of the university entrance qualification,
  • Grade of the university undergraduate degree,
  • Quality of the letter of motivation and
  • subject-specific professional or study experience.

If we receive more applications than there are seats available, the highest-ranking applicants will be invited to a selection interview. The interview is held as an individual interview in which we would like to get to know you and your motivation for pursuing the Master Digital Business Management. The following will be assessed in the interview:

  • Study motivation,
  • Social, professional and methodological competencies,
  • Analytical skills,
  • Statistical skills, and
  • relevant subject knowledge and language skills.

The interviews are conducted individually and last approx. 20 minutes per person. The selection interviews take place in July, sometimes from the beginning of June on a rolling basis.

Catching Up on Statistical Credits

Tuition Fees for the MDBM program

Since winter semester 2017/18, universities in Baden-Württemberg charge moderate tuition fees for non-EU international students. These fees are intended to keep the high quality standards Baden-Württemberg is well known for. These fees amount to 1,500 EUR per semester.

Students from the EU, the European Economic Area (EEA) and students who are part of an Erasmus Program are excluded from these fees. Refugees are also not affected. Students who have already begun their studies or who start in the summer semester 2017 are also unconcerned. Students who received their general qualification for university entrance in Germany without German citizenship are excluded.

* Please note that conditions may be necessary to ensure that the subject requirements are met (e.g. attendance of additional courses and/or restrictions on elective options). If you have earned only 180 ECTS credits in your first degree program, you will need to complete an additional 30 ECTS credits during your Master's studies, so that you will have earned a total of 300 credits by the time you graduate. Credits can be obtained on the basis of an individual "compulsory study agreement" (verbindliche Studienvereinbarung, Master's vSV) from additional electives, from courses of other Master's programs and from certain courses of the Bachelor's programs. It is also possible to earn additional credits as part of a semester abroad or an integrated internship if the previous degree program did not include an integrated internship. Under certain conditions, it is also possible to transfer a maximum of 30 credits for skills acquired outside the higher education sector. Applicants with fewer than 180 ECTS cannot be admitted to the Master's degree program.
