During his presentation, Mr. Hüttmann talked about his current role in the company and the importance of the creation of this new division. He mentioned that in order to handle the complexity of such a large operation, companies need to create divisions that make sense both in the short and long term. In the case of BOSCH, the complexity was very high. The company had over EUR 70 billion in sales in 2015 and the number of employees is more than 375,000 worldwide. For this reason, the company is structured as follows: Mobility solutions (cars), industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology.

Mr. Hüttmann also talked about the BOSCH approach. He mentioned that BOSCH was not a profit-driven company and would not have to make any decisions on a quarterly basis. He told the students that BOSCH was in fact a foundation and thus, focused more on the long-term of its activities. For this reason, BOSCH invests billions of Euros in R&D every year and develops around 22 patents per day. He mentioned that the biggest impact the company wanted to have was on its employees and the society.
