Company projects with Bosch, MAHLE, and 1&1, 2018-2019

All project teams have successfully finished their company projects. Congratulations to the MBA students for having achieved this milestone. The MBA project teams worked on a four-month consultation project for Bosch, MAHLE, 1&1IONOS, which were supervised by Prof. Dr. Juergen Janovsky, Prof. Dr. Harald Strotmann, and Prof. Dr. Oliver Schwaab, respectively. Three different projects, three different topics, three different industries, all resulted in recommendations that companies plan to implement. Topics included service transformation in the automobile industry, innovative Industry 4.0 solutions, and e-commerce strategy. Company projects gave students the opportunity experience real-life projects with working professionals. In addition, it also helped sharpen their leadership skills, enhance their collaboration skills internally and with the client, and strengthen their communication management.

1&1 IONOS: e-commerce strategy

1& 1 company project kick-off meeting

For the 1&1 IONOS project, the MBA team worked on developing an e-commerce strategy that supports small and medium businesses who are planning to enter e-commerce or planning to scale up their businesses. The project team developed a tool to help small businesses estimate costs incurred when starting an online business. Students conducted market research and then worked on conceptualizing the tool. Designing of the tool was the most stimulating part of the project since the team had to consider numerous possibilities for each field. The experience was exciting because the team could connect with business stakeholders of 1&1 IONOS, and additionally, the team received an opportunity to deliver a real product.

The final presentation was delivered to Mr. Olaf Henning, General Manager of MAHLE Aftermarket and Member of the Management Board, and Mr. Christian Küchlin, Head of Customer Care EMEA. During the presentation, the clients and the MBA consulting team discussed the unprecedented evolution of the automotive industry and how today's mega trends are going to shape the future of mobility.

Overall, the company projects were delivered successfully with total client satisfaction. The MBA students also gained tremendously from this experience. Olaitan from Nigeria shared his experience, “Company project encapsulates the notion that applied knowledge is better than theory. During the company project I learned a lot about group dynamics, management of customer's expectation and the importance of iteration in a semi-guided milieu.”

Ameya from India commented, “Company project was a great learning experience. I learnt a lot about a time-bound project by successfully delivering all the stated deliverables. Our project mentor guided us throughout the project by giving us critical suggestions before all our important presentations with the client. For the final presentation in front of top management executives, we learnt how to precisely and concisely deliver the presentation into one Power Point document, focusing on key messages on each slide. Overall, it was an amazing successfully-delivered consulting project.”
