Controlling, Finance and Accounting (M.Sc.)

The program addresses competencies and methods used in management accounting and accounting divisions of national and international companies. Furthermore, classical and modern financial theories like Portfolio Management, Financial Engineering and Behavioral Finance are going to be taught. With its focus on theoretical and practical knowledge as well as solving problems as a team, the program provides deep insights into the application of the most important procedures and enhances the soft skills of the participants. The focus of the program is on the strong interlocking of theory and application orientation in the advanced modules as well as in research papers and case studies.

The master's program in Controlling, Finance and Accounting (M.Sc.) conveys theoretical and application-oriented knowledge, analytical skills, as well as communication competencies and capabilities. Its aim is to provide a holistic qualification for mangement accounting, financial and accounting tasks - through an innovative teaching and learning concept that focuses on small groups, interactive learning and the direct application of the  knowledge in research projects. Electives offer the opportunity to focus on one of the three main components individually.

By combining management accounting, financial and accounting subjects, the program provides a broad range of qualifications for job positions in management accounting and accounting departments, both in management and expert roles. Furthermore, graduates are qualified for job positions at national and international auditing and consulting companies. With this background, graduates are well prepared for for future professional challenges. The program is mainly taught in German. Applicants whose mother tongue is not German should be fluent in German (level C1 is required).

Application and Admission Prerequisites

Bachelor's degree or equivalent first degree from a full university or university of applied sciences: in business administration or a degree program with a similar focus with prior knowledge in management accounting, financial management and accounting to the extent of at least 24 ECTS, with the grade 2,5 or above, based on at least 180 ECTS credits. 

Tuition Fees

Administrative costs, fees for the student id card and a contribution to the student body. No tuition fee for German students, EU or EEA nationals and students with a German university entrance qualification. For other international students: tuition fee of 650 euros per semester in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Contents and specifics

The program imparts theoretical fundamentals and practical expertise. It is based on an innovative teaching and learning concept that focuses on small groups, interactive learning and the direct application of knowledge to research or practice. Courses are taught by professors who combine their professional experience with the latest research.

Due to the combination of management accounting, financial and accounting contents, the program prepares for leading positions and expert functions in the respective departments. Moreover, graduates are qualified to work for national and international auditing and consulting companies. With these fundamental competencies graduates are well equipped for future jobs.  

Starting in the first semester, the program offers students course options. By choosing your preferences, you can leave a personal mark on your studies depending on your interest and career destination (for example the field of elective subjects as well as practice and research projects). Even on an international level, if you wish: There is the option of spending a part of your program abroad. Business School Pforzheim has a high-ranking network of partner universities around the world. Furthermore, our course has three Double Degree partners in Taiwan, Poland and France.

The standard period of study is three semesters, including the master’s thesis.
The clearly structured and well organized program ensures quality and reliability. Additionally, it creates flexibility within modules (for example five electives, a research project and the master´s thesis).
