German Chancellor Fellowship for MBA Alumnus
We could not be more proud of our MBA alumni, Piyush Dhawan, for standing next to Dr. Angela Merkel at the Bundeskanzleramt last week. Piyush was selected for the prestigious German Chancellor Fellowship for Future Leaders 2018-2019 by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He is working on the topic of Circular Economy and how cities could incorporate the principles of Circular Economy. All over the world, urban areas are undergoing rapid growth, with 60% of the world’s population predicted to be living in urban deltas by 2030. Cities are tightly connected to economic growth, producing over 75% of the world’s GDP, while contributing to 75% of carbon emissions, and consuming 75% of global resources. By systematically applying circular economy strategies, cities can decouple human prosperity from environmental degradation.
Piyush is working with The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) in Wuppertal. He also visited the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, as part of his research stay for two months. There he worked with their newly established Centre for Circular Economy.
Piyush is an alumnus of the Hochschule Pforzheim MBA programme from 2011. He worked with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH or GIZ in India as a National Advisor on Business and Biodiversity, before been conferred with the distinguished fellowship.
